About Steve

Steve began his career in surveying in 2012, following the completion of a degree in Design Engineering. He initially joined regional property consultancy Goadsby as a CAD Technician and Trainee Building Surveyor, combining his technical and design background with practical experience of the built environment. He subsequently gained further experience working with New Forest Architects and a Hampshire based building consultancy, developing a broad understanding of building design, construction and defects.

Steve qualified as an Associate of the RICS in 2016 before becoming Chartered in 2024. Throughout his career, he has developed particular expertise in commercial building surveying, with a focus on Technical Due Diligence and dilapidations. He has been involved in more than 100 dilapidations claims, advising both landlords and tenants, as well as delivering numerous refurbishment and repair projects. He also spent four years undertaking project monitoring on complex residential and commercial developments, providing experience in assessing construction progress, costs and risk on behalf of funders.

Steve joined Bressummer A.R.K. with the aim of helping to grow the business from the ground up, having previously worked closely with Derek. He was attracted by the opportunity to combine the technical expertise and professionalism expected of a larger consultancy with the more personal and client focused approach of a small independent practice. Steve retains a hands-on role within the business, working closely with clients and providing practical, commercially focused building surveying advice.

With a technically minded approach to surveying, Steve particularly enjoys getting to the bottom of building defects and understanding why problems occur. His approach is to provide clients with clear, practical advice that helps them make informed decisions about their property.

Outside of work, Steve is a keen traveller and self confessed foodie, enjoying trying new cuisines and exploring new places. He has a long standing interest in more extreme sports, having enjoyed wakeboarding, snowboarding, kitesurfing and skiing over the years. Following a few injuries, he has sensibly swapped some of the more extreme pursuits for padel and paddleboarding.

Steve is always keen to try something new, whether that’s a new destination, restaurant or activity, and is usually happiest when there is good food involved.
