We’re delighted to welcome Steve to the Bressummer A.R.K team as our new Associate Director. Here’s a little more about him…
1. What’s your role at Bressummer A.R.K?
Associate Director & Chartered Building Surveyor
2. What is your specialist area of expertise?
With over 10 years’ experience in technical due diligence reports, planned preventative maintenance, schedules of condition, specification writing, contract administration, and re-instatement cost assessments, my main expertise lies in preparing Schedules of Dilapidations, providing exit strategies for tenants leaving their leases, and negotiating on behalf of landlords and tenants. I have successfully agreed over 100 dilapidations settlements without any claim progressing to court.
3. What do you enjoy about your role?
I really enjoy the variety my role brings, switching between desk work and onsite inspections keeps every day interesting. Using my detail-oriented approach, I analyse how building elements interact, identify defects, and present findings clearly. Helping parties reach fair dilapidations settlements, guided by facts and case law, is particularly rewarding.
4. What does a typical day in your job look like?
My day usually starts at the gym to get my body moving, followed by a podcast and coffee to kickstart my mind. I then speak with prospective clients and prepare fee proposals, head out to site meetings and surveys, and finish with report writing.
5. What do you do you in your spare/free time? Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy the gym, Formula 1, travel and exploring different cuisines, cooking, and have recently started trying Padel/Pickleball sessions (very much a beginner!).
6. What is your favourite book or movie?
My favourite movies are Dune and the Dollars Trilogy (who doesn’t love a western?).
7. What is your favourite meal?
I love anything Thai, fresh, fragrant and spicy.
8. What’s one thing your colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?
I had to give up extreme sports like kitesurfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding and skiing after one too many injuries, leaving me with metalwork in my elbows, hips and knees – always a fun game to play at airport security.
